How I Work With Clients

1. Assessment

The first step in therapy is a thoughtful, comprehensive assessment. Every client is different, so it's important to work with an experienced therapist who can evaluate your specific situation and create a personalized treatment plan. We'll start with an initial consultation — typically a phone call followed by a video or in-person session — where I get to know you, and you can assess whether I'm a good fit. Together we'll define your goals, discuss the right treatment approach, and set a realistic timeframe. Assessment doesn't stop after the first session — it continues as we work together and refine our approach over time.

2. Psychodynamic therapy / Psychoanalytic treatment

Initially what brings people in is symptoms and this is often what is discussed first.  Psychodynamic therapy works to go beyond symptom reduction to get to the root of the conflict.  This involves understanding the dynamics and origins behind the difficulties you face and understanding the patterns of thinking, and feeling that cause the pain and distress. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to help you understand the relationship you have with others and yourself.  The way for everyone is different but the ultimate goal is to unravel conflicts and blocks that get in the way of the life you want to lead.
